My pedi keeps saying that it's from drool, but I can't help but think there's something else going on. My daughter gets a small rash around her face after she eats...anything. I don't think it's a particular food allergy because she breaks out after every meal/snack that food gets on her face.
Has anyone experienced this before?

Leo gets this all the time. I still don't know what it's from, and some days he doesn't get it at all, other times the whole area around his mouth looks all rashy.
I've noticed it's usually when he eats carb-type foods, and he does have a little sensitivity to too much gluten so maybe that's part of it? The doctor didn't seem too worried and gave me a topical ointment for it, but that just seems like treating the symptoms and not the cause, you know?
We do have a pediatric dermatologist that I could ask, although the post about dairy got me to thinking that it could be milk because she does have milk with pretty much every meal. But it's weird that usually it's wherever the food actually touches her face. It doesn't bother her either, which makes me think that it must not itch. And it goes away within 20-30 minutes.
I got the same reaction from the pedi....a complacent kind of "it happens to everyone" response. But they can't actually see it because the time frame is so small and of course she never breaks out when we're at the doc.
Frustrating!
