Dropping afternoon nap... what do I do?

DS is dropping a nap.. okay.. I can handle that, it is time I guess.  However - he LOVES his morning nap (since he insists on waking up around 5am) he lays down without a fight at 9am and usually sleeps 1.5 hours.  At 1:30 when DD lays down he has been fighting it.

What do I do?  Shouldn't the 1 nap schedule have an afternoon nap, not a morning nap?

  • Ditto pp.  When DS started transitioning to 1 nap, I tried to keep him up until at least 10:30 or 11.  It was hard some days because he got sooooo sleepy but eventually he was able to stay awake that long and his naptime moved back to closer to noon.

  • dropping a nap for us was SUPER hard. my dd was getting up at 8 and wanting to nap at 10! then she was fussy and wanted to sleep at 3 or 4 since she woke up at 12. I ended up keeping her morning nap short 1/2 her normal nap and then letting her nap for 1/2 her normal nap around 3. She eventually dropped the morning nap and now wakes up between 6 and 7, naps between 11 and 11:30 and then goes to bed for the night at 7:30 (after books and bedtime routine she is asleep at 8)
