Babies: 0 - 3 Months

if you've had an abnormal pap, biopsy and "bad results". Anyone?

what came of it? I am totally freaked out! I got an abnormal pap smear, the doctor looked closer and decided to do a biopsy and it came back with a high grade lesion! I have to have that part of my cervix lasered out to check for cervical cancer. I am really scared. I am only 32 and have not had many partners in my life. I know none of that matters. It just sucks. has anyone gone through this?

I was shocked to hear that 8 of 10 women have HPV!

  • I had that happen back in '03.  I ended up needing a LEEP procedure.  It was uncomfortable but nothing compared to child birth.  I cleared up after that.

  • Yes this happened to me last fall... which is totally strange since they had ALWAYS been normal.  Anyway, was scheduled for a biopsy that didn't end up happening because I found out I was pregnant w DS.  Anyway, they did another pap at my first ob visit and it came back normal... so who knows.  I have to get another here soon since it's been almost a year, hopefully it's normal as well. Goodluck, prayers your way.

That's what they're doing. The LEEP. Good to hear you've been fine since.

  • I had a LEEP in May 09 for abnormal low grade cells that would not go away. Agreed with PP that it's uncomfortable and you'll have bad cramping for a day or two but it's nothin compared to childbirth :). If u have another baby they may watch your cervix closely incase it isn't strong enough...but mine was totally fine.

  • I had a LEEP in Oct 2009.  Just two months before I finally got my BFP.  So I'm thinking the LEEP was a godsend.

You'll do fine.  I didn't even bleed or swell.  The biopsy was way worse for me.  But like PP said, nothing compared to childbirth.  A mosquito bite is more annoying.

  • I had a LEEP back in early 2008 (after having abnormal pap results several times and two colposcopies) and ever since then I have had no problems. GL!

  • So glad to hear that everything went well w/ everyone else. I recently had a bad biopsy, so I need to go back in 2 months to have it rechecked. I hope mine goes as well as everyone elses!
