Question about pumps

Currently I have the Medela manual pump just to get me through until I get an electric pump. My birthday is coming up this weekend and I told DH that I wanted the Ameda double electric pump for my birthday present. Well, apparently MIL already went out and bought me a single electric Medela pump for my b-day gift (DH spoiled the surprise).

I was really hoping for a double pump as I heard they are preferred over the single ones because they save so much time. I checked the prices at the store she got it from and the single Medela pump is the same price as the Ameda double pump.

Should I exchange it for the double pump or will I like the single pump just as much anyways?

  • Exchange it for the double!  I'm not familiar with the brand Ameda but having the double will definetly save you time!

  • Get the double!  If you're going to be using it with any frequency (like being back at work), you'll definitely want the double.

  • Yes! Definitely get the double pump. It will save you lots of time. I prefer the Medela Pump in Style over the Ameda. I started out with the Ameda double pump and the gears go bad on it quickly. I purchased a Medela and it was well worth the extra $!

I have never used a double, but I do have the Medela Single Swing pump and I love it. So portable and easy to use. It really does not take me long to pump each side with mine at all. I'd say maybe around 20 minutes tops.  I hope you like it!

ETA: That is 20 min. all together, not each side! Oops
