Baby Names

Too Matchy matchy???

Our DS name is Gunner. We are having the hardest time even thinking of a boy name. Anything I come up with my husband isnt fond of. (If it were up to me baby's name would be Walter after my GF, we'd call him Walt. Or Ruby for a girl)

The boys names that I am drawn to end in er. Like Tucker, Parker, Tanner, Cooper. I didn't know if those are to alike to Gunner. I'm thinking so, but I thought I'd ask the pros on the baby name board :)

Re: Too Matchy matchy???

  • I would avoid Tanner with Gunner because it might sound like you really hate animals :)

I don't think Tucker and Gunner are too matchy, but I do love Walter and Ruby!

Bahaha- I didn't even think of that. We have friends who's sons are named Hunter and Fisher ;)

  • I think those are similar to Gunnar, they are a little matchy because they all end in "er."

Although I don't really care about that because my son's name is Cooper and we're considering Parker for #2 :)

I agree with PP. Tanner would be too much. I think a name ending in -er is okay, but I'd avoid a -nner ending.
    Ditto
  • My friend has 3 boys:  Spencer, Parker and Tanner.   She very much liked the "er" ending in names and was even considering her daughter Skyler (but ended naming her Sarah).

I don't think they are too matchy.  Of your names, I like Cooper the best.  I like the nickname "Coop" for it.

    LOL at all of this.

I agree that Tanner is too much, but I think the others are good, especially Cooper.

I would try to avoid any [-er] endings, but I know they are trendy. Definitely avoid [-ner] names like Tanner, Connor, Abner, Rayner....

    This.

  • If we have a boy, we are naming him Tanner.  But I LOVE Tucker!  never thought of that one...um....
  • My cousin has 3 boys named Spencer, Tanner and Cooper, I think it works.  I would avoid the name Tucker though, kids are cruel and its too easy to change the T to an F...just my thoughts.

  • I don't think Walter or Ruby are the same style as Gunner.

Maybe consider Colton, Dalton, or Logan?

I don't have any girl suggestions, though...
