Tis the season of me HATING where I live

Seriously, I hate winter where I live. I'm in a snowbelt. Terrible snow. This morning the weatherman was saying "snow will come late this afternoon". It was already snowing at my house. I still went out because there was only a few inches of snow, nothing big. I also live on top of a big hill. As I drove down the hill, less and less snow... bottom of the hill, no snow. (it's about a 3 mile downhill drive). Rediculous. Went to the store, came back, terrible snow on the highway, worse on the main road here. Got to my hill, turned up it, a car in front of me (a few cars ahead) got stuck, truck in front of me zoomed past her. I went around.. .. STUCK, made it into someone's driveway by burning my tires (I have snow tires too). I called my husband at work and almost broke down into tears. He was telling me to go back down the hill and go the back way. For the life of me, couldn't think of how that was and was in a state of panic since I had the kids with me. He left work and met me at the church down at the bottom of the hill. I had gone in and asked if I could leave my car there overnight if need be since I couldnt' get up the hill- No problem. Dh refused, switched cars with me and is going the back way home. Then he will take the truck back to work.  Needless to say, I'm canceling my dentist appointment tonight and B's dr appointment tomorrow.

I HATE SNOW, when it keeps me from going places....

  • I hear you - we have similar problems here, but (thank God) we live at the bottom of the hill, near the lake.  We still get our fair share, but nowhere near what they get up there.  We have a much better car for the snow now, but when we didn't, I absolutely dreaded going up the hill whenever it snowed.  Still don't love it!

I'd gotten stuck several times in our old car - once when I was pg with DS and was just lucky that some teenage guys were around to push my car far enough into the street to get traction (I was parked on the side of the road - just trying to get up the hill - had to get pushed toward the alley so I didn't have to go up anymore).  Aye!!

  • I feel your pain.  We live on top of the mountain, where we get equal to whatever hits the 90 snow belt.  If you drive 3 miles down the mountain (what is the big deal about 3 miles?!), the ground won't even be wet.

  • I feel kind of bad for wishing for a big snowstorm now.
  • And that is one of the reasons we moved away. Every year come January we were looking to move somewhere it didn't snow. I hate feeling trapped. I hate the cold.

    it will thaw eventually...
