Crossing my fingers for a boy

I won't know the gender until January 14th, but my husband and I both (separately!) came up with the best boy name for us. We listened to our families throw out lots of names during Thanksgiving, and then that night, by myself, I came up with a great, meaningful name that's both semi-unique and family member-related. When I grabbed my DH aside to tell him my idea, he just sat there quietly, smiling. I thought he was going to tease me or call the name silly, but then he said, "that's exactly the name I thought of today too."  SOLD!  We are still up in the air on a girl's name, and I think it's harder to come up with a good girl's name, so fingers crossed for a boy!!!

Re: Crossing my fingers for a boy

  • Good luck on a boy haha we are the opposite we have a girls name but we have been throwing boys names around since the last pregnancy and nothing is really sticking!

  • See, we are having a harder time with boys names than girls!

I love when you're able to find a name that is perfect for both of you and that it combines all that you want in a name!  Do you mind my asking what the perfect name is?

  • That's awesome! I hope I have that revelation at some point. I can't come up with a single name, and my H is still in the helpful stage of only offering ridiculous suggestions.

haha i get alot of these too!

  • We have 2 names picked out (one boy & one girl) but I must say, I like our choice for a boy better than the girl name. We still have time to change our mind on the girl name though if we find out that's what we're having.

Haha, for the longest time DH used to say he wanted a son named Theman so he could call him "The Man"... When we told his parents a few questions later they asked if we'd thought of any names and we said we had but won't tell until the baby is born.  His dad immediately said "I'm praying Theman is no longer in the running"... thankfully DH is being serious about it now.  He actually came up with our top girls name all on his own and I immediately fell in love with it when he told me.  It's been # 1 on our list for about 2 years now!

  • girls names. We're good. Boys, that's the challenge.

Funny thing is I think it's a boy. We will see in a few days though.

We had a perfect boy name and then I realized a HS friend who was 9 mos pregnant had it taken for her boy. I couldn't just copy her. Even though we had chosen it before we knew she had. Blahh.

  • Maybe you could help me with a boys name then lol I have 3 BOYS already and it was SOOO hard to think of names for them. If this is another boy i have NO CLUE what we will name him lol Girls names would be easy for me lol!!! That is awesome you both agree on a name and crzy you both thought of it too!!!  Good Luck with a girls name!

  • Sounds like I need to hear some of these girl names!! It's funny how each couple perceives boy/girl names harder to come by. Now, I'm not looking for any critique, please, but my boy name is special to us, and that's all that counts, right?! It sounds best with our last name, but you'll just have to take my word for it.  So, the name we like the best is Holden Thomas.  Holden is the name of the place where my DH and I first met and fell in love (awww), and Thomas is my Dad's name. My child will be the first grandchild  on my side, and if this IS a boy, it will be the first boy in our family in years, so I can't imagine a better way to honor my Dad. For us, the name is perfect.

I love the name Holden. It is the main character in my favorite book, The Catcher in the Rye. Unfortunately MH hates it. I think it wold be a cute girl name as well.
