Christmas Party Fail

We had our party tonight at the school where I teach (a professional school where the students are adults). I offered to make extra desserts because they needed someone.

I underestimated the number of babies and children and pregnant women that would be there - hearing comments like "last year, she wasn't even here yet, just in utero" made me want to cry. Something professors are not supposed to do at holiday parties.

My husband doesn't seem to understand why I am still so upset - why I cry - why the party was hard for me to handle.

I just want the pain to end.

I'm so sorry for your loss, and sorry your husband isn't understanding where you're coming from.  Don't let anyone tell you that you're grieving improperly..only you know what you need to do.  I know that I would have been upset by seeing so many pregnant bellies and new babies, especially if I wasn't prepared for it.  ((hugs))
