I think what that reviewer was referring to was the fact that her performance wasn't "magical" and by saying she looked like she ate too much, I believe he was talking about her dancing, not her actual weight.  Meaning, their performance lacked the lightness that a ballet dancer should have on stage.

That particular writer is highly critial of NYCB, their training and their performances.  He has been for years, so the comments didn't surprise me or really offend me.

I hope you are right! I would hate to think that he meant it any other way. If I were that dancer, I would be crushed.
