How to hide a belly?

I am clearly pregnant, even when I try to suck it in.  I am not telling my friends until we are all together for dinner NEXT weekend (as in December 11th), but I work with some and that makes it hard to keep secret.  I have been wearing most of my flowy shirts, but I am running low.

Do I play it up like tv shows do when they try to hide a pregnant actress and walk with something in front of my stomach for a week and a half?

  • A long boyfriend cardigan sweater works well too, particularly in dark colors.  I wore one on Sunday and, but for the m/s, even I wouldn't have known I was pregnant! :)

  • dark colored empire(sp) anything: cute lil dress, shirt, sweater

    OR rouching in dark colors

OR a-line skirts that can kinda pull the eyes toward your small 'natural' waist and the flare of your skirt.

just thoughts though...my first pregnancy and I'm not showing yet but this is what ive been thinking about using as i conceal from work when I start showing.

  • I've been wearing cute cloth scarfs that drape over my middle. Works double to cover up HUGE BOOBS.

Ditto, I have quite the selection of scarves now!  Winter is perfect for hiding bumps!

  • Big chunky sweaters that tie at waist, trapeze shaped cardigans (loose styles of course), and big, long sweaters with "skinny" jeans or leggings...

I went to Old Navy to buy some of these items in one size larger than normal...not maternity, but they hide it well for now. And I will be able to wear it all again AND everything there is on sale right now, so it's a double bonus! :)

  • I am not trying to hide it, but saddly being fat works to cover it well!!!
  • I've found layers help, because then it's hard to tell how much is bunching from clothes and where your stomach really is. I also second scarves!

    GL!

  • What do you mean "running low" on flowy tops? Can't you just wash them?

  • I agree re: cardigans and scarves - that's what I was doing until I "came out."  Scarves in particular hide everything.

  • Wear dark colors like everyone suggested, but then play up your upper half with colorful scarves, earrings, necklaces, etc -- it will draw the eye up and away from your bump. And for what it's worth, I did the whole carry-something-in-front-of-me-at-all-times when I was trying to hide. I carried a coat over my arm "in case I was going to get cold" or my big laptop case swung in front, or held my laptop itself in front of my bump.
