I would like to add a subcategory under ethnic that is "Classic/Old Lady names." I see posts around here all the time about old lady names, but old lady names in Spanish aren't the same as old lady names in English.
Vintage with offbeat thrown in. I would lean much more towards offbeat if it weren't for my husband, who likes classic names. So my vintage style works with his much more. :-)
I don't think I fall into any category. I can appreciate names from all 'types' and GASP! even boy names for girls, trendy names, PLACE NAMES (ohmygosh!), granny names for babies, etc etc.
In fact, I loved so many names that MH had to name our daughter bc I couldn't decie, ha ha!
Classic, for sure. Our daughter is Clara. This baby will be either William Michael James or Elisabeth Abigail Grace. I wouldn't even consider something trendy like Madison, Brayden, etc (or whatever counts as "trendy" right now) I like old-fashioned names and that's about it.
Anything that won't be mispronounced or mispelled dozens of times throughout my child's life. I don't want to saddle them with the burden of correcting everyone they meet/talk to.
ETA: I just saw the name nerds site (very cool, BTW). Not a huge surprise. Ease of use is the most important. I don't mind trendy names too much as long as they will age well (and not sound like a stripper's name).
I love both Classic and Ethnic names. I am of Welsh, Irish, English and Scottish descent and I love Welsh, Irish and Scottish names. I also love very classic names.
DH on the other hand loves youneek names. He doesn't want his kids to have "boring" names. He actually thinks that Nevaeh is a nice name, which is why I have veto power over the names of any future children.
I like all unisex names better on boys, which the exception of Quinn, which I like on a girl. I dislike words-as-names, like Tree or Stone. I'm not into "ethnic" names. Maybe because neither DH nor I have a strong ethnic identity. (We're both German/Scottish/Irish - my last name is Scottish and there are a few Scottish names I would use that are pronounceable in English.) I dislike made-up names. My biggest pet peeve is the bastardization of the name Michaela (which I really like, in that spelling only).
I guess the only ones we're not is Trendy or Biblical. Definitely more Vintage/Classic, though not quite offbeat. Here's a link for those of you more interested in your naming style! The best one I've found so far!
Re: What is your naming style?
I wouldn't say I have a specific style. But it's a mix of Trendy, and Classic. I like names from almost all genres.
SO's style is definitely classic and offbeat. But he likes most of my suggestions, which is good since I dislike most of his.
Boys- Classic. 100%.
Girls- A mix of classic and slightly ethnic.

My other blog
I've been thinking about this for the last few days. I think I have a combo of styles and they differ with boys and girls.
Girls: semi-unusual or offbeat classic names, like Magdalena, Delilah, Lillian, Eleanor, Madeleine, Evangeline, Audrey, Amelia, Daphne, Felicity, Fiona, Briony
Boys: Unisex or "feminine" boys names. Ashley, Logan, Morgan, Asa, Adrian, Julian, Ari, Ethan, Tristan, Luke, Ian, Bronson, Micah, Wesley, Rhet, Alistair
I like all unisex names better on boys, which the exception of Quinn, which I like on a girl. I dislike words-as-names, like Tree or Stone. I'm not into "ethnic" names.
