What are your opinions of this name? What traits and personality do you associate with it? Do you automatically think of the Bible story and if so, is it too negative for you to use?
I love it. I think of that "Hey there Delilah" song which still makes me smile . I also grew up with a very lovely girl named Delilah, although she went by Lily as a nickname.
I think it's a beautiful name. I think negative-Bible-associated names (I'm tired, work with me here) were originally used more as a reprimand or reminder... much like Chastity and Amity and Faith and Prudence and Temperance were used with the Pilgrims... I'm coming around more to those kinds of names. I'm not personally fond of using names with negative connotations, though. To each his own?
I love the sound of it. I personally don't care about the Bible story and would use it in a heartbeat, but feel that living in the middle of Missouri, other people around me will think about the Bible story and have negative associations with the name. If I lived in a more urban area surrounded by fewer extremely religious people, I'd use it.
I do think of the bible story (I have cats named Samson and Delilah), but it's not negative to me. It's pretty. We call the cats Sam/Sammy and Lilah for short.
But upon 1st hearing it, I think of the Delilah radio show......
This is DH's association too--to the point that it's the name he automatically associates with "annoying chick." I really like the name, and the recent song is actually an added bonus to me since it seems to reference a long-distance relationship(something we had a little TOO much experience with, up until our wedding) and how things will work out for the best. Unfortunately, DH would never go for it because of the DJ...

Hey there Delilah don't you worry about a thing....
Oh wait, what? Sorry. Got carried away there. Makes me think of the song and Delilah on the radio offering love songs to all.
It's NMS, but I don't see anything bad about it.
