Hey ladies,
Sorry for posting this so late. How's everyone doing this week? Highlights or challenges you'd like to share?
Question of the Week: Now that many of us are getting close to our due dates, what are your doctors saying about your delivery? Have you scheduled a c/s or an induction yet or will your doctor wait for things to happen naturally?

Re: ~*~ Sugar Mamas ~*~ Weekly GD Check-In
this week has been good, evening B.S. level has been high so they will prob raise my insulin dose a little bit but mostly good
they set up an induction for Dec 15th at 7am, excited and nervous at the same time
Morning! Doing fine this week. My numbers have actually been low lately (think, high 90s to low 100s after meals), which had me a bit freaked out about the placenta breaking down, but the midwife was able to calm my fears on that point (especially since my NST was fine). Doing some sleuthing, the numbers started getting lower last week around the same time I started drinking 3 cups a day of RRL tea. According to the internets, RRL is good for diabetics, so maybe that has something to do with it? Has anyone else had this happen? Just curious.
Oh, and the baby definitely dropped, so yay for that! I'm not really uncomfortable, besides having to pee constantly.
QOTW: This is an appropriate question, since I got thrown for a loop at my appointment yesterday. As of now, my sugars are under such good control that they see no need to induce me until I'm 41 weeks. So, yeah, we're waiting for things to happen naturally. I'm happy about that, since I really don't want to be induced, but I had also started building my due date up in my mind as a "deadline." Don't get me wrong -- I am SO glad the baby is healthy and on the small side and that we can wait for labor to start naturally, but I'm also getting to the point where I'm ready to be done, and it's so hard not to worry when you read all kinds of scary things about post-term GD pregnancies. Plus, I am a control freak, and thinking this was definitely going to be a December baby was giving me some comfort. I'm still pretty darn sure she will be, but I'm trying to let go as much as I can!
Things are going pretty well for me this week. My numbers have been surprisingly low--for example, only 85 one hour after Thanksgiving dinner!!--but the baby is active and my NSTs have all been good, so I'm trying not to let it worry me.
I'm eager to have my appointment this week. The doctors keep going back and forth on the induction issue. A month ago, they said I wouldn't be allowed to go to my due date, but since my numbers have gotten better and my NSTs have been good, they've started saying I could go up to my due date but not past. I'm curious if things will change again. Also, I'll be having my first internal this week, and even though I know it's not a clear indicator, I'm interested to see if I've made any progress.
I'm good this week, just very uncomfortable. Every night when I go to bed, I think, "This is is". But it hasn't happened yet. My numbers are pretty low, except a random high one here and there. I'm still on insulin in the evenings.
I'm being induced tomorrow! I'm sort of freaked out and I do feel a bit gypped that I don't get to go into labor on my own, but I'm glad I have an ending date. So, 7:30 am tomorrow and hopefully there will be a baby not too long after that! As of yesterday, I'm 3 cm and 80% effaced and the doc stretched my cervix a bit. She said there's no need for any Cervadil or anything like that. So they'll start with breaking my water and go from there. AAHHH!
OMG! Good luck! We'll be thinking about you. Let us know how everything goes.
GL tomorrow!
I have a c/s scheduled for Dec 10th! OMFG that's only 10 days away! Trying to get last minute baby and Xmas shopping and wrapping done. Everything has been good with my sugar! I'm still only on 8u of insulin at bedtime- so small!!
I was hoping for a VBAC this time, but baby is measuring big and DS was 9lb 11oz with a giant head- they said no way would he have fit! So a c/s it is... oh well!
I am doing good this week. My numbers have been consistently good since my diagnosis, and easily controlled with diet alone. I have had a few highs, in the 140's over the last 5 weeks, but I know what caused them, such as trying a new cereal, eating a tad too much because I thought I could get away with it:).
I am being induced on December 15th. Even though my GD is under control, the midwives have all agreed I should be induced at week 39, because my LO is measuring big. (DS was a big baby without GD).
At my 37 week appt today, I have finally started to make progress! I am 1 1/2 cm dilated, which is exactly what I need to hear. My only fear about the induction was that they would induce me without progress, causing a c-section. I have found out the odds of C-section are reduced if your body has started some progress on its own. So i have 2 more weeks to hopefully progress a little more as well! I would love it if LO decided to come out on her own before my induction, as long as she is ready!
GL to all you other ladies.
My question for you: WHAT IS YOUR POST GD MEAL GOING TO BE?
As long as my GD goes away after birth, I am heading out for fried chicken tenders from a local favorite restaurant with extra mashed potatoes and onion rings! and Cheesecake! But after that I am going to stick to a healthy diet, so I give her healthy breastmilk and lose this weight!
CONGRATS AND GL!
Easy question! Deep dish pizza and a beer! LOL
For the most part, I'm going to stick to eating the way I have been, but I am definitely looking forward to the occasional pizza.
