Help- am I overreacting?

Has anyone out there experienced a 'slow leak' of amniotic fluid? I am not sure if I am losing my mind.... just overreacting or what. UGH. I feel like my panties are wet- but cold. They feel wet but I am like- are they really? I just put on a pad to get a better idea.  Of course, I know most out there are probably thinking- are they wet or not?!?!? They seem to be.  It started yesterday, continued through the night and now my undies seem wet again?!?!? I just called my midwife last week bc I felt that baby was not moving.  Had a non stress test done and everything was fine. I want to call again today and give new info but don't want her to think that now I am nearing end that every little thing might be wrong. Any advice?

  • Just call the doctor. I had to go in today for the same reason...well, I felt a gush of fluid. It was just my mucus plug though. That's what they get paid for.

  • I would call as well. My doctor said if I wasn't sure, to put on a pair of shorts with no underwear - if I could feel fluid dripping down my leg then it was likely my water leaking.

    Call, you're not bothering them!

  • Definitely call if you are concerned.
  • You might as well call.

FWIW, I have been wet for months. The doctor asked me yesterday if any fluid was coming from my vagina and I said no because I meant that it hadn't really been a change from before. But yeah, if I wasn't wearing a thin pad every day, I'd have a SERIOUS wet panty problem at all times. The few times I've forgotten (or before I really realized I needed it), the wetness soaked through to my pants. So yeah, not taking risks there! My fluid level has gotten progressively wetter but I still know it's not the amniotic fluid or MP yet or anything. I just think that would be more obvious.

  • I went through the same thing, and I hesitate to call my midwife, but she said she was glad I did, and better safe than sorry.

Also-she had a series of questions to ask me which led us both to agree it probably wasn't my fluid leaking, and I decided it was safe to wait over night rather than run into L&D, and I am glad I waited because it turned out to be nothing. So calling is a good idea, they may be able to ease your mind, and tell you what to really look for before having to go in for a check. OR they may want to see you right away, depending on your story. Either way. calling a DR is the only way to go.

My rule of thumb: If I have to even ask myself "should i call my midwives"?, then I know I should have called already.

And it is what they get paid for, and if they mind that you are calling, they shouldn't be your dr.
