2 to 3 Month Old - Nap Schedule

I am curious as to how many naps your 2-3 month old takes per day, as well as how long each nap is.

My little girl gets up around 6:00 a.m. and eats every three hours.  She goes down easily for her first nap in her swing from 7:30 - 9:00 a.m.  The next few naps (she gets tired about 30-45 mins after each feeding) are a little more inconsistent.  If we're on the go, she typically naps really well in the car.  If we're at home, it's hard to get her down and once I do, it's hard for her to stay asleep.  I try her swing, crib and the bassinet in the living room, but nothing seems to do the trick.  I have to go back to work in January and would like to leave the babysitters with a better napper than what I have now!

Re: 2 to 3 Month Old - Nap Schedule

  • I'm finding my 10 week old is napping really well during the day 1-2 hours, and sometimes up to four hours, but she has to be in a dark room with no sudden noises and nice and warm too.

I also find that if she starts stirring too early i just pop her dummy back in and she will go back to sleep quite quickly.

I also don't go by a schedule, I just put her down when she starts getting sleepy, and if she is alert, I let her stay up for as long as she wants, that way when she goes to sleep she is actually tired enough for a decent sleep.

This is just what works for us, but I think everyone is different!

    Good luck.

  • my daughter goes to sleep around midnight, sleeps till 6 or 7 and then eats and sleeps for another two hours. Around 11 she takes about a 30 minute nap and then again around 1. By  4 or 5 she takes an hour nap and is then up till ten, eleven, or midnight.

  • I've been trying to figure out if my LO has much of a schedule or not. I just follow what she seems to feel like doing.

She's usually up around 7, eats, then takes a nap until 9:30 or so. She's up for a bit, eats, and then takes another nap around 11:30. Throughout the afternoon she's in and out. There's usually a nap around 3 and another around 6-7. She goes to bed around 9.

  • Schedule???  Ha!  DS is a pretty terrible napper.  He sleeps wonderfully at night but during the day is so inconsistent.  He has many days where he will only sleep for half an hour at a time and it takes awhile to even get him down.  Then once in awhile he will have a monster 4 hour nap in the afternoon.  No rhyme or reason to it.
