North Dakota Babies

Now what?

Hospital bags are packed and at the door ready to go. Contractions started off and on last night - mostly BH. Text messages are pouring in asking if the baby is here. So now what do I do? I feel like I am just waiting on my water to break to get this party started. Is there anything I should be doing? My SIL mentioned getting some pads to take with me to the hospital - so I might run out and get those later today. I think I am just ready to meet our baby.

Re: Now what?

  • Its just a waiting game at this point :) You could take some long walks to see if that gets things started.

  • Walking helped me.  The more I walked the more contractions I had and the more I dilated.  Good luck!

  • Hurry up and wait :) I hear lots of walking can help get things going.

My hospital had TONS and TONS of pads and sent me home with a huge bag as well.  So, you probably don't have to worry about bringing some with you. Maybe other hospitals are different though?

Good luck :) Hope things get moving soon!

  • Good luck!!  Hurry up baby, you have many nestie/bumpie aunts waiting to meet you :)
  • My hospital only gave me so many pads to take with me.  I also would recommend panty liners.  I found when they were checking me I started to spot.  I had to get mum to get me some.

Good luck, and hopefully your little one comes soon!

  • My hospital also provided me with as many as needed and some to take home.

    Good luck!

  • Start walking and remember that camera. :-)
  • Go enjoy time alone. I know that is easier said than done, but these are your last moments with an inside baby. Enjoy them. Take long walks, go watch a movie. And I would suggest telling people that you will call if anything happens. The "Have you had the baby yet?" calls are annoying.
  • My best advice is to get some projects to do (in between walking). That way you don't feel like you are sitting around waiting all the time and time goes faster. I had some fabric to make some dresses, I put together a footstool for her room, I brushed the cats, organized closets, I think I did some crafty things too. It could really be anything to keep your mind off just waiting. Also have one for when you go into labor. My midwife said to pick something that requires concentration, like a crossword puzzle or sewing, and when you can't concentrate on your project anymore because of contractions that is when you should start timing them.
  • I did a lot of walking and try not to think about it, I know that is hard to do.  Get some sleep, watch movies.
  • thanks ladies - I did lots of walking today with my neighbor and her super cute 4 month old. Thinking tomorrow I might go to Target to pick up some gifts and then another walk around the block.
  • aww, good luck!!  hopefully the walks will help!
