middle name thoughts

So, if you'd picked out a one-syllable first name and your last name is two syllables (for example -- Mark Johnson) would you likely choose a three syllable middle name?  I know some people are really into the whole syllable thing, and while I'm not set on following "rules" around this, I'm curious to know others' opinions.

  • I think pairing one-syllable names can sound very choppy. My nephew's name is Case Mark and his last name is one-syllable like Jones. I've never really cared for his name, but he's a real cutie and he makes a great Casey. I think that if you're not worried about it, don't let it stress you out.

  • Hmmm never thought about it, but I suppose a 2 or 3  syllable MN would sound better.  Then again, who the hell ever uses their middle name?  Go with what you like and what has meaning to you :)

  • Our son's name is a 2-2-2 pattern. So obviously I don't care about the different number of syllables. Just say the name to yourself a couple times and see what works for you.
