I switched to actos due to extreme GI upset after 2 months of taking it. I have had no GI upset at all after taking it. I feel so much better.
However now looking through the paper work Actos is listed as a level C medication, and is not recommended during pregnancy due to slow fetal development and has not been studied in pregnant women. My Dr. has said that I will be on actos the rest of my life, and will have to take it during pregnancy. (If I ever manage to get pregnant) She did not mention that actos has not been studied in pregnant women, and now I am apprehensive about taking it. I feel so much better now that I have switched, but worry about the potential risks. She suggested we wait 3 months to start TTC again with the medicine switch. Anyone have any input? Thanks! ![]()
Re: Switched from metformin to actos
What does your doctor say? Is it something they think will be okay? Are there other women who have taken actos during pregnancy at that practice?
I guess if she prescribed it to you, and wants you to take it indefinitely, then she must feel it's okay for you during pregnancy, but maybe just verify with her to be sure!
