Hi girls,
I have the sonoline b and I really do think I hear the heartbeat...sounds like a wooshing sound. It's low, near my underwear line on my right sound. I do notice that the display isntreally calculating the hb for any long period of time.
I keep reading on here that the umbilical cord and even placenta make a sound.....what does that sound like compared to the hb? I just want to make sure I am using the machine correctly..
Re: Doppler sound
Find your femoral artery (it is located groin area, google it if u need a pic) feel that pulse with your fingers, then place the doppler over it.
Now take that sound, but quieter and faster and that is the babys hb. It can be very hard to find before 12weeks.
Also, you have arteries and veins near where the baby will be. So make sure its faster then your pulse and you are not listening to yourself.
Good luck and do not freak if u do not find it. I have the sonoline b too, and it is not loud at all. Turn the sound up.

If it's on the side, near your hip, it might be an artery. That's what I kept finding at first. Finally, I found the baby's hb right above my pubic bone/hairline (baby is really really low at this point). It was closer to the middle. You really have to press down. The hb sounds like a super fast wooshing sound, and is a whole lot faster than yours (typically 140-170ish).
How far along are you? You might not even be able to find it yet, some people can't, due to position of your uterus, baby, etc.
