I got pregnant in May and we told my kids (6 and 9) very soon after we found out. They were super excited, but that pregnancy ended in a miscarriage at 6 weeks. I don't know that they really understood what happened, but they did know that mommy didn't have a baby in her tummy anymore.
Sooo....this time we have waited to tell them. We plan on telling them next weekend, which is after my first appt and I will be 11 weeks along. We need a fun way to tell them, but the hubby and I can't figure anything out on our own. We don't really want to do the "Big Brother" shirts yet. Do any of you creative ladies have any ideas for us?
Thank you for any help! I am so excited for them to know!
Re: How to break the news to my other children...
This isn't exactly specific to your situation, but I thought it might help get some creative juices flowing!
My brother and I were 8 and 5 (similar to your kids' ages) when my parents told us they were pregnant with my sister. It was around Easter time, and every year my parents would buy lilies to put on the table. My dad took both my brother and I to the florist and he was looking for something very specific, which seemed to take forever. When we came home, my mom was there. He had bought a lily plant with 5 flowers. 4 of the flowers were open. One was closed. They sat us down and showed us each of the flowers and named the 4 open flowers Mommy, Daddy, Andrea and Danny. They pointed to the unopened flower and said it was a surprise. We instantly thought PUPPY! and got crazy excited. They then told us that the unopened flower was a new baby, and that soon we'd be a family of 5.
While I like big brother t-shirts and stuff, I'll never forget the way they told us. It was creative and special - and definitely a mystery until they finally told us what the surprise was!
That is such a beautiful story! You made me tear up....
