Breastfeeding is still painful-update

I took some of your guys' advice and I hope I'm not speaking too soon, but the last 3 feedings has hardly hurt at all. I've been careful with his positioning to make sure he's not pulling on my nipple. I also have been more generous with the nipple cream. Thanks so much for the advice, it's been very beneficial!

Good for you! I noticed a big difference when I really paid attention to her latch, making sure she isn't drifting, and letting my nipples get some fresh air time. I'm so glad to hear you're turning a corner, I hope it continues for you. Keep it up!

I definitely noticed a difference after a week and paying careful attention to her latch and getting fresh air time. It was still sore for about a month but not "omg my nipples are going to fall off" painful on my really sore days I found that expressing some milk first and rubbing it on my nipples really helped. But now it only hurts when she sucks and pulls off at the same time OUCH! Glad its getting better!

I'm still having issues at this point with sore breasts and nipples; just wanted to pass on something that helped if your pain returns; the Medela softshells are these little cups that go over your nipples.  They're nice because your bra isnt squishing your nipples down and they still kind of get some air.  Hopefully you won't need them!
