Movie PSA: Do not watch Marley and Me

At least not while pregnant. I saw it before and I cried at the end but I don't remember crying at every single moment! Like when she goes to the doctor while pregnant. Bawling. When the next door neighbor gets stabbed crying. And of course I will cry at the end.

To be fair I was also crying at some of the performances in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.

Re: Movie PSA: Do not watch Marley and Me

  • For me, this is an appropriate message at any time. I bawled my eyes out when I read the book, and both times when I watched the movie. I have a feeling if I watched it while pregnant, I might need to be hospitalized for extreme emotional distress.

p.s. I have never even owed a dog in my life, but that story is just too touching!

  • How funny that you wrote this.  I walked into the living room this morning and saw about 2 minutes of the end of the movie.  (Just when the dog dies.)  I BROKE DOWN and was just bawling...I hadn't even seen 1 minute of it.  My husband thought I was fake crying.  The little kid was watching the home videos and cry....oh my God.  Never again.

  • I know!!  I bawled like a baby both when I read the book and saw in the movie theater.

I have a 14 year old yellow lab and don't think I will ever be able to watch that movie again.  It makes me too scared and sad.

  • Its so sad!!! You should see the whole movie when you are in an emotionally stable time. Or you are feeling like a good cry. Its really good but it is sad. They talk about real things like miscarriage and PPD and stuff like that.

    Plus it has McSteamy. Yummo.

  • I have never been able to watch it. Sobbed like a baby when I read the book and then had to hug my dog for like hours. He was confused. I don't think I would survive the movie.

Also, never watch 8 Below....childrens movie my ass...I have never cried so hard from the beginning to the end of a movie and then continued to cry 2 hours after the movie was over before. I can't watch movies where dogs die!

  • I haven't watched the movie, but the book was terrible!

The m/c part was intense, and the ending was almost as bad. My dog will be 13 years old in January and I'm just dreading the day he dies.
