Talk to me about your preemie's weight gain, please! C was born at 5lb 9oz, and is mainly breastfed (got formula suppliments in the beginning, now it's few and far between). She's been just under the 3rd%ile at every weight check. Yesterday we went in, and she'd dropped a little lower on the chart. She was 7lb 14oz 5 weeks ago, and 8lb 13 yesterday. She does have a suspected dairy/soy intollerance which I'm now working on, so that may account for some of her slow gain, but I just worry she's not gaining enough! My pedi is wonderful, he's not an alarmist, but did seem a bit concerned. I'm going back in next week for another weight check. So, how is/was your preemie's weight gain? Thanks for reading all this rambling

I pumped for the first 6 weeks and now hes FF. I feel like Luke is really growing fast and im not sure how he compares to other preemies! Good luck to your little one! I hope she has a growth spurt this week!!!
Corri was 3 pounds at birth (29w, 6d) and dropped down to 2lb, 9oz during the first week or so before climbing back up. She left the NICU at 39 weeks actual age at 6lb, 6oz, and now at a week and a half shy of 9 months, is 16pounds even. She got exclusively breastmilk for the first 5 months and then my "girls" quit on me and she has been getting formula ever since (as well as solids since 5 months, 3 weeks actual age). She is currently in the 10-25th percentile for height and weight and the doctors arent concerned. She is just destined to be a peanut since neither DH nor I are very big!
As long as your LO's pediatrician is not overly concerned, don't stress too much about it; some kids are just teeny!
Here's Annabelle's Stat through her first year. She was breastfeed and for the first two months, but I was supplementing from the begin ( I could never keep up with her). I started FF completely at 2.5 months old.
Birth: 4lbs 10 oz
Day after she was discharged from NICU (12 days old) 4lbs 10.5 oz
2 months old 6lbs 3.5 oz
3 months old 9lbs 1oz
4 months old 11lbs 2.5oz
5 months old 12lbs 11 oz
6 months old 13lbs 14.5 oz
7 months old 14lbs 8.5 oz
8 months old 15lbs 4 oz
9 months old 16lbs 5oz
10 months old 18lbs
11 months old 18lbs
12 months old 20lbs
DS was:
Birth: 5lbs, 6oz and 18.5" (34 weeks)
1 month: 7lbs 13.5oz and 21"
2 months: 10lbs 14.5oz and 22.5"
4 months: 14lbs 5oz and 25"
6 months: 16lbs 10oz and 26.5"
9 months: 19lbs 8oz and 27.75"
12 months: 21lbs and 29.5"
He was EBF from 2 months on when we stopped fortifying his BM and largely off bottles at 2.5 months.
He was a BIG gainer, but your DD's gain sounds pretty slow and worth looking at further, without freaking out :-). Have you gone to a LC to see how much she's taking during a feeding? She may have a tounge tie or something that's preventing her from nursing effectively. Another thing you could try is offering a bottle of pumped milk or formula after she nurses to see if she's just not getting enough effectively or your supply is low. I highly recommend checking in with an LC in either case. Good luck!
