Finished the formula we had on hand and they're now going to be on 100% cow's milk. I'm so sick of buying formula, mixing formula, smelling formula, touching formula (felt so gross on my hands).
Also, I "made" baby food for the first time tonight (just pureed some bananas) and it's so cheap. The jars I was getting before was $0.58 for a 4oz jar. I bought 5 large bananas for $1.22. I only used 3 so far and I got 4 jars out of it. Just had to share. I can't believe how much cheaper it is (anything to save a few $$$, especially when I plan to go to school next semester).
Re: 2 things - WE'RE NEVER BUYING FORMULA AGAIN!!!!! and saved $$$ on baby food
congrats on the formula! it's a GREAT feeling, huh? I remember that day - i posted on FB that i was done buying formula FOREVER
making your own baby food is much cheaper- but i'm lazy and have such little time that i didn't do it that often.
Hahahaha!!!! It's great isn't it. I'm spending about 90 bucks a week on formula at the moment and they aren't drinking but about 20 oz each in a 24 period. When they start eating more I'll be spending probably 150 a week!!!!
I can think of a million different things I would with 600.00 a month!
Congrats on this milestone!
My boys are just going through SO much that we're going to go broke if I don't. They go through 3 4oz jars for breakfast, 3 for lunch, and thehn a total of at least 12oz (the other night they took 23oz, yes I did mean 23oz) at dinner. At $0.58/jar, that's just way too much for us.
I make the boys food and it's so easy and awesome. Sometimes I do fresh but I also buy cascadian farms organic frozen stuff- steam it and puree it.
You can also make yogurt melts by covering a cookie sheet with parchment and dopping blobs of yogurt on then just freeze, pop off and bag up.
The sitter gets the older babies the "veggie crisps" in the health food aisle and they have those as snacks.
There are so many ways to save- I cannot wait for cows milk!
Check out wholesomebabyfood.com if you haven't yet!
Yay!
I love making their food! Like Gigi, I loveeee wholesomebabyfoods.com! I never thought I'd be a mom who made baby food but I love doing it!
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
Tell me more about these bottles Kimarino....How did you manage that?
A friend of mine sent me over 50 $5 off coupons that she got from her Pedi. Plus I had a ton of formula checks from family and friends. When the powder recall happened, they discounted the price of the liquid bottles to $3.86 at Target, but they still took the $5 checks and coupons so I guess I actually made money (but always bought other stuff so I never was *owed* money).

Yay for no more formula! I was doing a no formula happy dance for days
Making pureed food was really easy for us. Hand blender and ice cube trays... LOVED having food ready to go in the freezer.
Since they're almost 1, do they still need purees? We were done with baby food, too, right around 12m.
no more formula = best thing ever
Congrats!
William's pretty picky when it comes to finger foods (but will eat just about any puree), and Jacob's such a piggy that he shovels everything in his mouth too fast and then gags.
Great website! I used it a TON and made all the baby food for my son! Funny that it's so fun to make!
