What are your plans?

Just wondering how everyone plans to give birth. I know there are lots of different ways, even seen a few "strange" ways on some of the birthing television shows. If your planning a different way, please share! I love learning about this stuff! :)[Poll]

Re: What are your plans?

  • I put "other" because I am planning on a water birth at the hospital.

  • I voted for vaginally (bring on the drugs/epi) because I'm open to that if I need it, but I'm going to try to hold off as long as possible before getting drugs - my goal is at least 6-7cm dilated before the epi.  We'll see how it goes, since I'm being induced and have heard that pitocin contractions are much worse, much faster than natural ones.

I agree! I plan to hold off as long as I can, but I know I'm a big baby when it comes to pain so i'll prob give in and request some drugs!! I hope to suprise myself and everyone else, but I doubt that happens! I'm a big whoose!!! ;)

At my childbirth class last weekend the nurse said that if we decide to get an epi, try to get it somewhere between 4-6 cm because you may not be able to get it later on if you start progressing rapidly since they want you to be able to push.  I don't know anything about this firsthand since I'm going through this for the first time, but that's what she said.

My  instructor said I would be able to get an epi all the way until the time I started pushing, but that I should try to wait until I was at least 4-5 cm. If you get it too early it can really slow things down.... it's strange how we all get different information!

Yup, this! I'd like to make it all the way if I can but I'm not going to beat myself up if I decide to medicate.
