babies and colds

The pedi told us at the boys 6 month appt that most children and babies have 10 colds a year that they last 2 weeks on average, so in retrospect most children have colds for 20 weeks, ie the entire winter and there isn't much you can do about it....

Well lo and behold Ollie and has a stuffy nose and has been coughing, he also cut his first tooth is this teething or a cold?

Re: babies and colds

  • Wow, that actually makes me feel better because that sounds like about what my boys have experienced. We've been lucky to only have one more serious sickness and two stomach bugs, but they've had a LOT of colds and they do tend to last about two weeks. Hope your Ollie doesn't get too sick. :( With the coughing I would guess it is a cold.

  • Gibby had a cough from like Nov-April last year... and it just started again this week so i think we're in for it again.

Griffin was similar when he was younger.

Gray has had a ton of ear infections/fevers - i'm dreading this winter if this past week is any sign of what is to come. (high fever since Sun night, double ear infection, on antibiotics and still not getting better, ER visit last night b/c went to 104.1 even on motrin... still at 103.2 tonight- going back to dr tomorrow - this sucks).

you can never really know if it's a cold or teething re: boogers... since they are generally fussy with both - it's a joy of parenting :)
