baby head circumference percentile?

I am a first time mom, I would like some inputs from experienced moms out there. Exactly how much weight should I put on those baby growth percentiles? ie weight, height and head circumference?

My sons ( 10 wks old) was born 3 wks early - He did the 1 mth and 2 mths wellness check and everything is fine - putting on weight and growing .His head circumference is in the 11% - seems low to me but the Dr said he is developing just fine. Should I be worried? Anyone has similar experience with their newborn?

 Thank you!

I wouldn't worry unless your doctor is concerned.  My older son has the exact opposite problem - His head is in the 89%.  My younger son is in the 30%.  Both are fine.

We have the opposite problem too.  P's head is in the 90th percentile!  :(  But she is developing just fine according to the pediatrician.  I'm curious to see where she is at at her 2 mo appt.

D's head is in like the 14th percentile...haha...so don't feel bad.  They usually catch up somewhat.

My LO's head is in the 35th percentile, his height and weight are in the 85th and 90th percentile, respectively.  My pedi said that they look for LO's growth to stay close to their percentile baselines.  i.e. my ped would be looking for LO to be close to 35th percentile for his head at his 4 month appointment.  If there is any major deviation up or down, then they would be more concerned.

My LO at her 2 month check-up had a head and length percentiles of 5-10% but a weight of 50% - short and fat.  She healthy, my dh isn't very tall and her aunts and grandmothers are short.  Don't sweat it;-)

My pedi said the percentiles are only really a concern if they are 5% or below or 95% or higher.

Our DS is in the 90% for weight and about the same in length, but only in the 50% for head circumference. I think it's because he's still a bit cone-headed for having been stuck on the way out for so long!
