I feel like this came up recently, but I can't find the post..
What combination of vitamins did you take when TTC? I was taking a multivitamin, calcium + vitamin D supplement, and fish oil pills, and now I have no idea what to do with prenatals thrown into the mix.
The prenatals I picked up don't have everything my multivitamin did, but they're only missing a few things, and I've read that DHA pills are important, but are those different than fish oil pills that are labeled as mercury-free?
Re: Prenatals
I only took the Target brand prenatal vitamin while TTC, and throughout pregnancy. I can't speak for any of the additional DHA pills.
I would switch to just a regular prenatal to avoid confusion. I'm not sure about the fish oil/DHA. When you get pregnant, you can ask your OB if you need anything extra. I took a prenatal from Wal Mart during TTC/the beginning of my pregnancy. It has 800 mcg of folic acid, but my OB preferred that I get 1000, so I took a supplement.
Due to morning sickness I got to where I couldn't stand the smell of them. So, I switched to a gummy prenatal from Target-it didn't have as much in them (oddly it had DHA but not as much other stuff) , so I took two a day. I recently was told I am a little anemic (totally common in pregnancy) so now I take the two gummies plus an iron supplement daily.

This...I took them at night b/c I get sick really easily.

I've taken several... IMO the most pleasant ones to take are the perscription pills. You can probably get plenty of samples from your doc.
I have a bottle of PNVs from Whole Foods that I am just trying not to waste. They are huge and awful - I call them my dirt pills!
I also took a gummy prenatal along with extra folic acid due to the advice of my doctor. Of course, now that I'm not pregnant, I can't stand the thought of taking a gummy vitamin.
If you haven't already, I would suggest a pre-conception appointment with your OB. It gave me a chance to talk to my OB about all of my TTC concerns. I also came away with TONS of samples of PNVs.
This. I took them at night before I went to bed.
