Can we talk about nipples?

Mine have not changed at all.  They still look exactly like they did pre-pregnancy.  I have heard so many ladies saying that theirs have gotten bigger and darker throughout pregnancy.  Is that the norm?  Am I just weird?

If you're comfortable please tell me about yours.

Mine have only changed in that I get some tiny white crusties on them. Other than that, they are exactly the same. My breasts as a whole are also the same, save for a couple of blue veins and that my ribs have loosened. My actual cup size has not changed at all (thank goodness, H is plenty on someone just inder 5'1).

Mine are waaaay darker. They used to be pink and now they are brown. I hope they go back to pink but I am not sure that they will. They also are larger, both the areolas and nipples!

My size has not changed at all but they have gotten much darker.

Mine are much bigger and darker than they were pre pregnancy.  It happened very early on, right after I got my BFP.  They actually changed before my boobs grew!

Mine pretty much look the same too...maybe a little darker but that's about it.  I am in a bigger size bra but I think it's more b/c of the extra fat on my body and not the increase in cup size.  No big large pregnant boobs for me

Same here!  Mine are still tiny and pink.  I'm just hoping that's okay for bfing, since we just learned at my Childbirth class that baby is supposed to get as much of your areola into his/her mouth as possible for optimum feeding...and, well, there's just not that much there for me, I guess.

I had my nipples pierced for about 6 years or so. I took out the piercings when I was about 12 weeks along. I still plan on BF. I feel like there are just a couple extra holes for baby to get milk. lol. Plus, I spoke with my ob about it and they said it would be fine. As long as I didn't put the bars back in while BF, which I think is pretty much an obvious no no.

I'm sure it'll be fine - I was worried about mine too in the beginning, but my midwife (before I switched to an OB practice) told me my nipples looked "fantastic for breastfeeding" - guess they don't need to be gigantor, as long as they get the job done, right?

I wonder if that "pack the mouth full of areola" thing is just for suction maybe?  In which case, maybe it's easier to get a good seal around smaller nips? 

I clearly have no idea...

Mine always change early on.  The areola (sp?) part gets bigger and everything gets darker.  Lots of blue veins.  My nipples got bigger with my first pregnancy and breastfeeding and they never went back to small.  But they do turn back to a more normal color.  I wouldn't say pink like before pregnancy, but a darker pink.

Mine have changed size (much larger- even DH has noticed) and much darker.  In the last couple weeks they have become even darker - i can't even imagine what they are going to look like while breastfeeding

Mine aren't leaking yet though...so i dunno - i'm guessing everyone will change again once we have our LO's.

Areolas are bigger and darker. Nipples are not really different in size but it does feel like they have changed given how they get when I leak (with the extra hard texture, and mine get sore.) When leaking/soreness isn't going on I guess they still look normal.

 I'm going to go ahead and get going with FFFC early and say the boob changes/leaking have got to be one of my very least favorite aspects of this pregnancy. I get that colostrum will be great for the baby, but it bothers me that I have to do this NOW instead of after he's here. I wish it all just started afterward...

I used to have peircings way back in the day and I do plan on breastfeeding. I was worried I would have scar tissue or something and wouldn't be able to breastfeed. However, my OB checked out my nips and I have begun leaking from both, so I'm not worried anymore.

Also, My nips have gotten bigger and darker.

My areolas are a tad bigger and much darker.  They also have weird spots on them.

Least fortunate is the fact that my breasts in general have gotten hairy. Eew. I mean, I have always had the random hair here and there but now I pluck constantly. Not a fan.

No noticeable leaking but the nipples often have a crusty appearance. eew again.

Mine are huge and very dark, LO won't have any trouble finding them lol

Mine have definitely gotten more brown.  I also seem to have a darker brown line around the outside of the aerola and inside is a lighter brown.  I also get some crusties on the nipple (weird) but no leakage.  My boobs have finally started to "look" and "feel" bigger/heavier in the last week.  I think I might need to go bra shopping.

definitely changed, they went from pink to brown & got bigger...i already felt like they were huge before getting pg. so not very happy at the moment!

If this is the case, my LO is going to choke! They are so freaking big, it's so bazaar. They've gotten darker (like PP) and bigger (like PP)...thank goodness no leaking YET!

Boobs have gone up about 2 cups sizes. The nips started getting bigger in last tri, but now are a dark pink. If LO can't find these suckers, he's on his own!!

I do not have a freckled complexion these are completely new.

That is true... I do have colostrum coming out of one of my old piercing holes. It's strange seeing the stuff come out of the side of the nipple, but I don't care as long as it's coming out.

Mine look exactly the same. The only difference I have notice is that old lefty seems to gush out more colostrum with each passing week. I have gone from having a little circle of leakage to soaking a good part of my shirt.

Same here. I still have the holes from mine (pierced about 12 years ago) and I am leaking a bit so I think I'll have no problems.

I actually had a friend who had only one pierced and her LO actually preferred the pierced side. Maybe they get more/better flow?

I'm similar to most other mommies here: larger breasts, darker areolas, crusties on the nipples, and no tenderness (which is weird because that has always been an issue, even just during pms/af).  I have to admit that I'm jealous of people who are leaking. I think that is irrational but I can't help but think to myself.."I want to make sure mine are getting ready to be full time feeding machines, too!!"

Mine are bigger darker they leak more and they have crusties from when I leak.

I get the white crusties occasionally too.  I have gone up a cup size and my nips are incredibly sensitive but other than that no darker or bigger.

Nips aren't bigger, just darker.  And the bumps on them got more pronounced.  I thought I was weird too since all the books say to expect bigger areolas.  They're leaking like woah, and my cup size has gone up from 36B to 38C (yay! )  They're also itchy
