S/O What you make - Who has the must have dishes??

I already said mine in the other post but for here, I'll reiterate my Grandmother's dressing.

OMG, this stuff is like crack! LOL, okay not really but it's soooooo good.  Very seldomly do I like anyone's cooking more than my Mom's but Grandma gets first prize on dressing.  I'm really hoping she leaves a recipe or lets me make it with her soon.

Tell me yours, and why???

Re: S/O What you make - Who has the must have dishes??

  • My Aunt Mildred's noodles...oh my gosh they are mouth watering and they are a staple at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.  I can't remember a holiday without those things :)  I also loved my grandmothers dressing...another Aunt of mine makes a close to replication but it's just not exactly like what my grandmother used to make.

  • Lol Christy! I love talking about this stuff. My great aunt's dressing recipe is the best. We normally don't get together with that part of the family anymore, but we've learned to make it. It will always be Patsy's dressing no matter who makes it, and it will always be my favorite holiday dish!

Amen to that sister!  And amen to all the buttah!  I've made it once myself and I kept saying over and over again..."all this butter"...but it was yummylicious.  The only thing I do different is in her icing, I use a teaspoon of vanilla extract instead of the marshmellow stuff.

  • I miss my grandmother's stuffing. (I haven't had thanksgiving with them since we got married since we have it with DH's family.)

My grandparents (and my mom too, originally) are from Minnesota and it's different from the traditional southern "dressing". It's so good and kind of light and fluffy. I also love her homemade cranberry relish.

  • In my family we don't really do a "traditional" Thanksgiving dinner.  Last year we had Beef Wellington and the year before that we had Osobucco (sp?).  However, we ALWAYS have a pan of my grandmother's cornbread dressing no matter what.  Nonnie passed away a couple of years ago but we thankfully learned how to make it before she left us.

At DH's family Thanksgiving a must have is always Aunt Debbie's broccoli casserole.  OMG this thing is delicious!  The top of it is covered in a drawn butter/ritz cracker mixture.  Heaven!

  • My moms Broccoli and cheese casserole, yummy!!
