Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Uh oh... (re: milk)

We had Taco Stand for dinner tonight, which DD usually loves. She hasn't had any problems with spice in the past, but came across something tonight that made her cry. She was flipping out, and without really thinking, I gave her a sip of my milk. She immediately said, "MMMMM!" and kept signing frantically for more (which she didn't get and threw a huge temper tantrum about). It will be interesting to see how much of a battle she puts up for her bottle in a few minutes--I wasn't planning to do milk until just before 12 months.

  • She's not to young to have a few sips of milk. With DS#1 his dr had me start switching him over at 10 months. Just 2 oz of milk @ a time with his formula so that when he turned 1 he was already on all milk. but that was 10 years ago. I know they say to wait now till 1. But I think I few sips here and there won't hurt anything. Plus its good to know that she likes it when u do have to switch!

  • I know she isn't too little to try it, I was just avoiding it for two reasons: 1-she is stubborn and will probably protest the bottle for the rest of the week now (something similar ended BFing for us) and 2- Knowing that she loves it makes it tempting for me to switch now and try to justify it (i.e. SOME pedis say it's okay!). It's tempting because it is easier and less expensive than formula, even though I know they aren't really supposed to be off formula/BM until a year.
