Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Not the best doctor visit we've had...

I figured that he was going to tell me that DD was on the small side, but I was even surprised when they weighed her and she had dropped 7 ounces.

She's only 13lbs 12oz now.  I have to "feed her up".  That will make her happy, because she loves to eat!

  • She's only 13lbs? Wow. Emma is double that. She's a happy chunky monkey too. Ever since she got her teeth in, she eats anything she can. I dread next month's appointment when the pedi tells me Emma is a little on the chunky side.

  • My DD?s appointment is Monday and I am worried that I will be in a similar situation. My DD was 13 10 at her 6 month appointment and I think she has gained some but each time I weigh her with me it is around 14.5 and I am not sure if that is accurate because she feels heavier to me. I think I may weigh her on the wii tonight to prepare myself. I am worried the pedi will want me to supplement, which I don?t want to do. She is happy and healthy and the pedi was fine with her weight at 6 months. I was FF and my mom said I was the same way long and lean; I have been that way my whole life. What was the pedi?s advice?

  • I had already started supplementing, I knew that 2-3oz of BM was not going to sustain her, so he said to slowly increase the amount of formula she gets, make sure she is offered cereal/fruits/veg (which she is) and table foods that are suitable for her. Kind of what we are already doing, just increase the amounts.
