I've noticed that there are a few RN's on the board and I'm hoping for some job advice if you have any to share.
I recently graduated nursing school and am planning to take NCLEX shortly. I can't take it until december (no open test slots). I have to get my WI license before I can even apply for my LA one. So it will still be weeks before I can really begin the job hunt.
Being pregnant is going to throw a wrench in everything because no one is going to want to hire a new grad pregnant nurse . Do any of you nurses (or anyone in general) have any advice? Do I tell them I'm pg (assuming I'm not showing). Do I just wait till baby is born and try to find a different job in the mean time.
Health insurance isn't an issue since I'm covered under my DH. Right now I'm just taking things one step at a time, so for now that means studying until I can test.
Re: Job advice from Rns on the board???
I'd def. start looking right away. Most hospitals will have graduate nurse positions, so you really don't need your license to work. You'll be in orientation with a preceptor, so it works out. I wouldn't tell during the interview, but be aware that you'll need to say something as soon as you start. There will be patients that you cannot care for pregnant (airborne precautions, viral menigitis, ect).
Good luck!!!
