Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Anyone feel like their LO doesn't need anything for xmas?

I have managed to buy a ton of stuff for DD at the Goodwill Outlet near our house! I was addicted for a while because everything is sold by the pound and there is always stuff with tags still on! Each clothing item ends up being about 15-50 cents! So she has clothes to last until she is 2. She also has plenty of toys just from people buying them for her (I have only bought her 2 toys believe it or not!) When people ask what they should get her for Christmas i just want to say $ for her college fund or diapers, but know people want to buy her "things". One thing I was thinking is a membership to the zoo or children's museum or little gym, etc. Anyone else feel this way?

  • We are in the same boat.  I don't know what to tell people when they ask what to buy her.  We get a lot of things of craigslist and she really doesn't need anything.  We did get her a play kitchen for her bday and for Christmas we got her a comforter set for her new bed.

  • I'm sure one day I'll be begging for "no more toys!" but right now DS has outgrown all of his baby toys and is ready for some big boy stuff. So I am suggesting toys if people ask.
  • We feel this way. But with DS (#1), we totally spoiled him for his 1st Christmas. Now with DDs 1st Christmas, I look back and remember how very little DS played with all that stuff. Plus, DD just wants to play with all of her big brothers things anyway.

  • Our LO definitely don't need anything. But we feel pressured to get her something, so we will probably buy a couple of toys. That's it.
  • we don't have a ton of toys but she goes to a daycare center so there's plenty there... we also don't have a ton of clothes. that said, i really feel like what we have is just fine and if people ask what they can get (her bday is 4 days after xmas) for either, I'll tell them books and/or puzzles and/or clothes 18months+.

  • We just had DD's birthday last month and returned some toys because we simply don't have the space.  She was showered with gifts so I'm unsure about what we're going to do.  She's the first grandchild on both sides and everyone loves to give her toys and clothes even when it's not a special occasion.  I'm totally thrilled that family likes to get her things but it's adding up in her small bedroom.
  • We are buying DD a new car seat for her birthday and some stroller accessories for Christmas.  Seriously.  Being the only grandchild I am sure she will get plenty of toys, books and clothes from family so we aren't getting anything additional until we see what we end up with.  Next year we will make a bigger deal about Santa and fun presents.  This year she can knock herself out playing in the box the car seat came in and tearing ornaments off the tree.
  • Same thing here. We're only buying her maybe one or 2 little toy items and then we have 2 other kids so all 3 of them are getting a swing set for Christmas. That's really their only gift. As far as other people, I've suggested books, clothes, or something like membership to the little gym.
