Trouble TTC

Fertil Aid for Men?

Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) using Fertil Aid for men?

Also specifically - would it hurt my DH to take it even if nothing ends up being wrong with his sperm (see details below) and finally if you have ordered it where did you get it and how much did it cost? I am seeing it on amazon for $28 for 1 month and wondering if thats a good price.

Details about our situation:

DH had his first SA and everything came back good (including double the count) except for his % of normal sperm. It came in at 7% and our RE would like to see 14%. He wants DH to do a 2nd SA which we just haven't had time to do yet (I dont want to do it when I could possibly be ovulating and then he was out of town). Then if there is still an issue he will see a urologist. On the other hand though the RE is not very concerned and said we would still proceed with Clomid in 2011 even if DH's issue wasnt taken care of yet. Hence my question about would it harm DH to take Fertil Aid even if we haven't confirmed a problem or seen a urologist?

Thanks in advance for any reponses :)

Re: Fertil Aid for Men?

  • We haven't tried any supplements yet, but I haven't seen anyone say that they've seen a worse SA after taking them.  My initial thought is that it's probably not going to do much to improve morph, but I don't think it will hurt anything to give it a try.  Good luck with whatever you decide!

  • Hi there-

I asked this question a few weeks ago and then asked my husband's Uro about it. He suggested a different brand- ConceptionXR. We didn't need a script for it and he said that it can't hurt to try, but not to put 100% stock in it.

Hope that helps! GL to you!

  • DH took it, and it increased his count.  His motility stayed about the same (around 47%).  But, it did take several months for us to see a difference in his count.  DH took FertilAid without asking his urologist about it.  We asked my RE about it and he had no problem with it, since it's essentially just vitamins/supplements.

  • My DH is taking fertilaid for men and motility boost.  He has a high count not great morph and 40% motility.  We are not worried about the morph due to many new studies showing that it doesn't hinder ttc as much as previously thought.  His motility is not good, so we are working on that.  I have heard tons about it working and sometimes it helps speed the simmers up even before the production of new sperm which takes somewhere around 72 days.  The B vitamins are what helps them move.  This is why you see so many success stories with in the first month of use.

I purchase ALL my TTC products from https://www.early-pregnancy-tests.com/pregnancytests.html and your will receive emails from them with coupon codes and I think everymonth they have a special on the Fertilaid products.

    Hopefully it will help!!

  • I don't see how it can hurt, it's really only vitamins/supplements and not in such high amounts that it could be harmful.  MH is taking Fertility Blend.  Not sure it has helped since it hasn't been 3 months yet and he was only on it for about a week before his second SA (which did show improvement, but I think it had more to do with the days of abstinence before the test).  Even if there isn't a problem with him, having higher counts/better motility can only help right?

  • Thanks for the feedback everyone. I am leaning towards trying it out especially since as posters said its just vitamins/supplements so it won't hurt him!!

I am still a little confused by SA lingo so could someone help me out with it a bit?

I understand the count part but what are the other factors? What is the correct lingo for "normal" sperm which is the area he was low in?

    Thank you :)

I think you are referring to "morphology" of sperm, which is basically the size/shape/structure. But frankly, if his number is 7%, it's still within the normal range. https://infertilityblog.blogspot.com/2010/07/sperm-morphology-new-guidelines.html

The other factor besides morphology and count/concentration is motility, which is the movement of the sperm.
