Homemade baby food on the go...

Please re-direct me if this is not the best place to ask this...

What do you do about baby food when you're out of town.  Do you still make your own or just buy the jars?  I'm obviously new to the baby food thing and am not sure how to plan for the holidays (we'll be visiting/staying with relatives for 10 days).

Thanks!

Re: Homemade baby food on the go...

  • We always brought our own/got what we needed there.  For the car trip, we'd bring things like avocado, banana, blueberries, apple sauce, and for the first leg, something that'd stay fresh with the help of a ice pack/insulated case (yogurt, cottage cheese) so that it would keep on it's own.  Once we got wherever we were going, we generally stayed with family, so we'd bring sweet potatoes and other items that were pretty easy to make in small batches.  We always found it to be pretty easy.

  • I still made my own. Even did it on a road trip from Canada to Florida.
  • It depends.  If we had access to a kitchen we would get things that were easy to make and prepare them there.  If we did not have a kitchen we would just buy a few jars.
