I have noticed that my high school girls who have babies come back to school after giving birth and seem to have completely lost their ability to remember anything. Then within 6-7 months everything is better. Now a colleague of mine says that it is chemical (something in a pregnant woman's brain) but I maintain that a new mom has little sleep and is preoccupied with an infant.
My question is: did you notice a significant decrease in your ability to remember things or were you no different than before?
Re: 2nd time moms I have a ?
It is true. The hormones in involved with pregnancy and birth allow your brain to "forget" the pains of labor and pregnancy. It takes a significant amount of time to rebuild and balance out your pre-pregnancy hormones. I am not sure about 6-7 months, but I know it is one of the reason why you have a 6 week break for your body to recover from birth.
This is my second pregnancy and with my son, I could not remember anything afterwards, but my memory seemed to return after my recovery. Now that I am pregnant again, I am back into the DIPS. (Dumbest induced by Pregnancy Syndrome.)
