Cloth Diapering

Please help me with my leaking night diapers!

We've always used BG 3.0 one-size diapers for night-time diapers.  Used to use the mf inserts, but I have enough hemp to use only hemp now (and have for about 6 months).  In the last couple months we've started having leakage.  The diapers have been stripped, DS is not waking at night to eat anymore (so he shouldn't be peeing more, right?), but he did start walking and I think he's slimmed out a little.

Well, now we're having leaks almost every night (by morning time).  I tried lowering the rise (we've been fully unsnapped almost forever) and that didn't seem to help at all.  We use two AFFF inserts most of the time - they are usually completely wet... but they used to be then too (pre-leaks).  Do I just need to add more absorbency?  The couple times I've stuffed a large AIO, we've not had leaks... Should I just try a different diaper for a while?  The majority of our stash is BG... I have a few fitteds, but I think he's gotten pretty used to being dry...

Any tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • Maybe you could add a mf insert on top. Since hemp absorbs slower maybe he's peeing too fast at first and it's leaking out but then continues to pee so the inserts DO get soaked. I would give it a shot!

  • I'd do as the PP says, but also maybe add a pair of fleece/wool longies over top, and just use pj shirts/t-shirts for pj tops.  I've had luck with monkey snuggles night fitteds with an econobum cover or fleece cover.

  • We put microfiber on the top and hemp underneath and found that worked better for us than two hemp inserts.
