Medicine and vomiting

DS is cutting a tooth, so I gave him some Motrin before bed.  It must have gone down the wrong way, because he gagged and threw up.  The vomit was the color of his dinner, not the color of the medicine (sorry, TMI).  I'm just wondering, if he is acting like he is in pain, can I give him more medicine before I normally would?  I'm not sure if it came up or not!  This question sounds dumb as I'm typing it, but I really have no idea.  Thanks!

Re: Medicine and vomiting

  • some people recommend piggy backing tylonel and motrin for teething... you can give tylonel sooner than the time is up for the motrin dosage. Otherwise, there's stuff like hyland's teething tablets (I know, I know, recall notice, blah blah blah...), or boiron has a natural teething remedy, as well, that's similar... it's a liquid dose, too.

  • I would think it was fine to give medicine now since the probably threw it up.  You could start out with 1/2 a dosage.
