Will infant PF work for a newborn?

There is a newborn PF package that I'm looking at purchasing. It comes with 30 infant PF, 4 Thirsties duo covers, 2 Snappies and 100 disposible liners. Will these be ok for a nb?

I was also planning on ordering 10 nb PF and 2 nb Proraps. (I already have a couple fitteds and AIO's. WDYT?

  • You will have to fold them down, which will make them much bulkier in the early stages, but yes, they will work just fine.  I recommend 30 diapers and six covers for a nb if you wash every other day,  so I think the first package you mentioned would be fine if you added two more covers.

We did/do fine with only 3 covers. We have 2 thirsties xs covers and 1 duo cover. Like the duo alot better! GL and congrats!

  • Well they'll work but as pp mentioned it would make it even bulkier since you have to fold down so much for the cord area.  4 covers should be enough, but I'd get a smaller over for NB phase b/c the Thirsties XS was too high on her belly & irritated her cord area a lot so we couldn't use those initially until it was healed up.  Bummis Super Brite or proraps are good for not hurting the cord area.

  • The infant size prefolds were too bulky for my liking, once you folded them. We bought Cottonbabies smallest size Indian prefolds and they worked perfectly until she was about 6 weeks old. I have 20 of them and 2 XS Thirsties covers (with the umbilical cord cut out area in the front) if you're interested. We didn't have any issues with the Thirsties on her belly, but she was a little on the long side (20 inches). They're all in excellent condition. Just let me know. :)

    Ella is finally here!
