Twin Belly B4 & After - Pictures and Question

Hi ladies!  Talk to me about this twin belly postpartum.  Is this round bump still my uterus needing to shrink??  Or is this fat I need to lose?  It's not jiggly, but more just protruding.  It's not firm either, tho.  How long does it take to get rid of this??  I was 127 lbs pre-pregnancy and had a pretty good tummy. My only side-shot I have of my belly is this 9-week pregnant shot.  I was 202 lbs the day I had my c/s, and lost 55 lbs the first week.  Now I'm 150 lbs and staying there (pict taken yesterday).

Re: Twin Belly B4 & After - Pictures and Question

  • Your babies are only 2w old, it'll take a while for your belly to shrink to normal size.  It's going to take a few months to know what's still left over from being pg and what's fat that you need to lose.  If you're BFing, that'll help your uterus shrink a lot faster.  Your body's been through a lot, carrying 1 baby is hard on your body, it's not meant to carry 2, you won't look like your normal self yet.

To clearly answer your question, that's not just fat that needs to be lost, that's still your body shrinking.

    ditto.

you are 2 weeks out - stop thinking about it.... you've got bigger things to deal with (2 babies! :)...  your belly will shrink a lot in the coming weeks/months.

  • My girls are about a week younger than your sons and I still feel the bulge that is my uterus going back.  My OB said it'll take awhile for it to go back, esp since I am not nursing.  I am also left with the fabulous lower stomach pouch (I feel like its a curtain)... I am still very swollen and counting the days until it goes away!  Definitely give your body some time!

First of all, I just saw your signature, in memory of your sons I'm assuming?  I'm sorry for your loss.. I can't even begin to imagine the pain.  As for the belly, I guess I thought it would just take a couple weeks to lose it all.  Kinda bummed I can't even wear my wedding rings still.

The siggy is in memory of Cookie Queens boys that were just lost last week at 23w.  There's quite a few girls on here that have the same thing in their sig.  I also can't imagine how hard that would be to live through.

As far as your wedding rings, you could always buy a cheapo at Walmart or Target.

  • Goldie_Locks, you're right I shouldn't even be thinking about it.  I have a lot of time on my hands today... babies are sleeping a LOT today!

  • it will shrink for a long time -

my stomach was slightly distended until 9 months.  i am very lean so it was noticeable - imo, i looked 12 weeks pregnant.  so give it time...i dunno what happened but at 9 months but stomach became completely flat again.

    patience!

and dont work your abs until you are at least 6 weeks PP - since they are not together yet you can do serious damage. i waited until 9 weeks PP just to be safe.

This is good to hear because I'm still waiting for mine to shrink at 6 months, but I was still pretty huge at 2 weeks PP.

  • My ob said stomach had a lot of air in it too after the c-section. I'm don't remember how long that last though. It will all work itself out in time.

  • I'm actually under my pre-pg weight now and I still have a bulge (especially after I eat).  Give it time.  It'll continue to go down - I promise.

As for your wedding rings... I'd say that it took a good 8-10 wks for the swelling in my hands to go down enough for me to wear my rings again.

  • You actually look pretty darn great for 2wks PP!  My belly looks like yours and i'm almost 3 months in!  My OB said to expect at least 12 wks before everything goes back to normal.  Everyone is different though.

  • I'm almost 4 weeks pp and I have that big hard protruding lump also.  It's bumming me out but I understand that I need to be patient.  I gained 68 lbs total and I'm still up 20.  I'm also still waiting for my rings to fit.
