Levels?

Hi! I'm new to the board, just got my BFP last monday! My doctor had me go in for blood tests on Tuesday and Thursday and called me on Thursday to tell me my levels went from 19 to 38, but that these are still low so he wants me to go back this week for another test. This may seem stupid, and I should have asked him on the phone, but does anyone know exactly what these levels are measuring? I assumed it was hcg, but from what ive read hcg should be way higher than those numbers.

  • I just had the same thing happen to me.  My first HCG level was only 24, but 6 days later it was 293.  The dr. tested my HCG level before I had even missed my period, so he is assuming that is why it was so low.  I go in for one last test next Wednesday just to make sure.  How far along were you when you had it tested?

  • As long as they are doubling every 2 days, I wouldn't worry too much. I am in the same situation. I am waiting for my results of my second test. Fingers crossed they doubled!!!
  • Thanks everyone. The first test I had done I was six days late. So that is why I was wondering. I haven't had any spotting or anything as of yet, so I am just keeping my fingers crossed that this week they are much higher!

It would seem highly illogical to be measured for progesterone only. Usually it's hcg, or hcg AND progesterone.

If my hunch is correct and you were tested for hcg, i think you're fine! they doubled.
