Hey, ladies! I'm just on week one of GD living on my own - my first week was spent in the hospital with PTL. I'm trying to help my mom & MIL plan some GD- friendly foods for Thanksgiving and was wondering if anyone else had plans yet. They've got me on a high-carb Javonovic diet, for reference points.
Re: Happy GD Thanksgiving?
I love Thanksgiving and this year is going to especially tough, unless of course I've have LO or am in labor. I think you'll have to skip the stuffing, sweet potatoes, corn and cranberries. Mashed potatoes in moderation. All the turkey you can eat, green beans, broccoli. I'd wait until after you poke for pie, then only a sliver.
These are things that make an appearance on our table. Hope that helps...I'll be checking back for more ideas for myself as well.
I had gd over thanksgiving w/ ds. I have it again, but I'm being induced Monday.
There's really not a way to keep Thanksgiving traditional and make it gd friendly. I just chose what I really wanted and then built around that. For me it was the pumpkin pie. I had a small slice and then for my meal skipped most of the sides to accomodate it.
Maybe have them add extra plain veggies to the meal or a veggie tray for you.
I'm going to load up on turkey, get myself a handful of mashed potatoes (my fave!!) and then do tiny portions of everything else. The hardest part for me is that I love seconds ... but it will just force me to wait until a little later for that.
I'm not a big dessert eater anyway, so I won't feel like I'm missing out on anything. And I can always have just a taste and be satisfied with that. Also, I find a cup of tea with cream sometimes satisfies my sweet tooth more than an actual sweet does.
I'm so happy you're still pg, mama.
Thank you!!! I really appreciate that
That sounds like a really good game plan for your Thanksgiving. My MIL is bringing me a bunch of deviled eggs, I don't know why but I really want those. Eat a lot of stuffing for me!
I get 4 carbs at dinner, so I can probably squeak by fairly easily. I just want to make my carb choices worthwhile and not shoot myself in the foot with the worst ones, you know?
I'm thinking cornbread stuffing would do me better than regular. Or maybe if I have a special batch of whole-wheat stuffing made just for me?
