How will you put LO in the carseat in winter?

I know it's not a good idea to put LO in the carseat with a bulky coat on.  So far I've been putting him in there with his outfit on and tucking a blanket over him.  If we're going in somewhere, I am sticking the coat on quickly before we get out of the car.

Is this what you're doing?  Is there a better way? Thanks

We put K in a thick sweater or fleece, warm up the car and then put a blanket over her once she's in the car. It sucks having to deal with all of this but this is what i hear most people are doing

Do you have a bundle me? We really like ours. When I put his coat on with it--he actually sweats. So the bundle me alone is usually fine. Just a thought :-)

I usually put a fleece on him in the car seat and then put a second coat on (it's actually a two-part coat from Children's Place) when I take him out.

I saw an excellent post on car seat safety recently on Facebook and it had pictures of how you can actually put the coat out from under the straps and zip the coat over the straps. It doesn't work so well with hooded coats but otherwise is a handy trick.

for what it's worth...I'd be careful using a BundleMe in your car seat - using it in the stroller is awesome.  Our LO was in the NICU for the first couple of weeks of her life and before we left we had to take a car seat class.  We actually had a BundleMe and we had to take it out before we could leave with our baby.  It isn't considered safe (even if your baby is born healthy) as it is a post-manufactured item being added to the car seat - which means the car seat was never safety tested with it.  Using a BundleMe can void the warranty of your car seat as well so be sure to check on that. 

 Right now we just put LO's coat on before she gets out of the car...and we'll put a blanket over her if the car isn't warm before she gets in.

I'm not familiar with "winter" but if it's chilly I actually carry him to the car in the blanket and then put it on the seat while I buckle him in and then put it back over him - that way it's warm from the get-go.
