I read husband coached labor and it really describes the theory behind the practice more than a "how-to." I want to read the second one to see if it gives more tips. The first one was very pretty preachy and written many years ago, although updated. So, you basically see the evolution of his theory.
DH has been reading 'husband coached childbirth' and really likes it. he's constantly telling me about things he's learning and thinks i should read it,too.
i started reading 'natural childbirth the bradley way'. so far i'm only up to chapter 5, but it seems like it's trying to convince you to take the classes and do natural birth. that's great and all, but i'm already in the class and i'm just finding it annoying.
so i guess at this point i'd go for the first one. but i really haven't gotten far enough in the second one to give good advice.

My Dh and I read Husband Coached Child Birth. I picked up a lot from it and learned a lot of tips. I'm also taking Bradley classes so it's hard to say how I would have understood it without the classes. I have no read the other one.
I have only read the one by Bradley himself and the book doesn't do much for me. It is outdated and not really that helpful. But, I do love our Bradley classes. I have not read the book by the woman, as my library doesn't have it.
If you can still fit in a class, I would do it. I I think are vital for doing the Bradely Method unless your DH is willing to put in a SUBSTANTIAL amount of self-study with you. Essentially, DH is the pain-management strategy with Bradley and learning to fill that role takes some effort, which the classes are very helpful with.
Between the two, get the second one, Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way. Although, I found parts of it a bit outdated and didn't like it as much as I thought....I wish I had just found it at a library instead. I like The Birth Partner a lot better, especially because it contained a lot of the exact same positions/comfort measures. But, I'm also not specifically planning on having a Bradley birth.
