I'm kind of a ss. DS goes to dc full time and has a lovey, but it doesn't go to dc w/ him. And he only gets it at bedtime - it just stays in his crib. And he'd probably fall asleep without it.
My LO has a FT nanny that comes to our house and doesn't have a lovey. She loves pillow pets but not in an attachment kind of way. I've tried to get her to use one when she goes to sleep or nap but she hasn't taken to anything.

This, just about word-for-word. DS could probably fall asleep without it, but he wouldn't be happy about it.
It's interesting...we had picked out loveys for DD before she was born, but she just wasn't interested in them. Until recently, when we were at the store, and she saw a stuffed lamb. She started yelling, "BAA! BAA!!" (she thinks it is a sheep). I handed her the "sheep" and she just lit up and gave it the biggest hug ever. I hadn't ever seen her react to a stuffed animal like that, so I got her the "sheep", and it has now become her lovey, as she won't go to sleep without it.
So, if your LO hasn't picked a lovey, don't discount it...they just may not like what you picked out for them, lol!
My oldest didn't want anything to do with a lovey until he was 2 or 3. Now he needs something to hug at night...usually his elephant.
The baby started hugging burp cloths and rubbing them against his cheek when he was sleepy. I picked him up a lovey they next time I went shopping and he snuggles with it all the time. (I actually bought a duplicate to leave at daycare.) He can sleep without it, but he sleeps better snuggled up with it.

We have the same situation at our house. She has a lovey that's always in her crib and I give it to her for naps and bedtime, but she doesn't take it to daycare and I forgot it this past weekend when we went out of town and she didn't seem to miss it at all.
She goes to daycare 3 days a week and has a lovey at daycare, but it's not the same one that's at home. I don't know if she even notices the lovey that's in her crib at daycare. It just makes me feel better, lol!
It was interesting to read all the responses. I guess Ophelia may still choose a lovey and yet may not. I guess there's no rhyme or reason behind it. Does anyone have any insight?
Re: Lovey post - I have a ? CLICKY
LOL, I feel like mine is missing out by not having a lovey. I keep trying to get her to attach to something but no! It makes me a little sad.
BTW, I work and DH is a SAHD right now.
My 1st DD stayed home with me, and had a lovey....
The baby stays home with me too, but does not have a lovey....

DS does not have a lovey - we got one for a gift and he never cared for it really. I don't even know where it is right now.
We are SS becuase DS does not go to dc but I am not a SAHM either. He stays home with MIL m-f full time.

I'm a SAHM for what it's worth...

DS has a couple of loveys but isn't attached to them at all.
