Can we brainstorm re: why LO isn't sleeping?

LO's sleeping has gotten increasingly worse starting Sunday night. She's been hard to put down, waking up multiple times crying, she's also been more difficult to feed. At first, I thought it was just daylight savings, but she woke up over an hour early. Her Papa left Sunday evening on a business trip. She doesn't seem sick, although this time, when she got up at 5:30am, she had a little bit of a runny nose. Doesn't seem warm/feverish, I always check the diaper (though this usually doesn't bother her anyway), and gave her a bottle. Could she really be missing her Papa that much? What else could it be? Teething (she's got no teeth yet, but isn't drooling like crazy)? I am freaking exhausted. I'm going to be joining DH at the end of the week in Vegas and my parents are staying w/ her the 2.5 days I'll be gone. I'm starting to worry that she's going to be really difficult for them :-/. Help!!

  • Sounds like teeth to me. DD never really drooled when she started teething but definitely slept worse. She now has 6 teeth. Good luck!

  • Another vote for teething. When DS cut his top teeth, he got a runny nose as well, but no fever. He also was difficult to feed and got up a lot at night. It lasted for about a week here and now we have 2 new teeth.

Try some motrin around bedtime and see if that gives her some relief.

  • I think teething or ear infection.  DS has had 4 ear infections the first 3 he was really congested/coughing/runny nose.  The last one was a double ear infection and the only symptom was he was a BEAR to get to sleep.  He didn't seem sick at all and played happily in the day- he just WOULD NOT sleep.

If it's been more than 2-3 days of this I would go see the doctor.

  • could be a mix of things. missing him, teeth (my DD never drooled a whole lot and we have 7 teeth), or even a phase~ hang in there, you aren't alone!
