I mean, I know the basics, but I don't know what I should be feeding her regarding table food for breakfast and lunch. Right now, she's having three 8 oz. bottles of formula a day, a fruit puree, a vegetable puree, and usually part of what we're having for dinner (and some puffs during the day). DH cooks at night, but I don't cook...hence the problem. I can do some basic things, but I'm really confused about a schedule, when she should eat, and what.
Any advice for a kitchen-phobic mama?
Re: Okay, I'll admit it...I have no idea what to feed DD
I struggle with cooking for my girls as well, especially since they still don't do many foods we frequently eat. Things I fall back on when I'm eating something they don't (spicy, chewy, etc):
toasted bread with hummus, cheese slices, frozen raviolis or meatballs(boil, cut in half, serve), lunch packs of fruit in water (pears and oranges), banana chunks, yogurt, cottage cheese (small curd), canned black beans (drain and rinse)
We've also taken to cooking and freezing veggies so they are heat'n'serve. Right now we have sweet potato chunks, green beans, peas, and carrot chunks cooked and ready to go.
I'm not much of a cook either, but I just try to make sure DD gets each of the food groups (fruit/veggie, dairy, grain, protein) with each meal...some easy things to make are cheesy scrambled eggs, quesadillas, grilled cheese and turkey sandwiches, shredded chicken salad...
For example. for lunch DD had a cheese quesadilla (cheese [dairy], whole grain tortilla, chunky veggie salsa), a peanut butter sandwich (protein and grain) and strawberry yogurt (dairy and fruit).
My daughter doesn't like much meat, so I try to make her eggs once a day, since they're a great source of protein.
ETA: As far as when she eats, I just feed her at typical breakfast/lunch/dinner times. Breakfast is usually around 8, lunch around 12, dinner around 6. I don't base it around when she nurses (or, in your case, gets a bottle).
Sydney gets three bottles a day too. One after her breakfast, one after lunch, and one before bed. As your DD eats more table food, you might want to decrease how many oz. are in each bottle.
Some easy breakfast foods: waffles (frozen whole grain), pancakes (again, you can buy frozen), scrambled eggs and toast.
Lunch options: mac & cheese (she LOVES it), grilled cheese (I don't give her the crust though), yogurt and fruit (banana, kiwi, mango, ect), steamed veggies like broccoli, pasta with a little sauce.
And dinner, we do the same as you - she eats what we eat. Or rather, what we had the night before. We eat after she goes to bed, so I always save her some of my dinner for the next day.
I need to get more creative with food options. I am just giving you examples of *easy* foods for breakfast and lunch
