So I was stalking my registry again, of course. (I have another shower on Sunday.) And I noticed that there was one item I registered for as wanting one, but 2 have been purchased. So someone went to Target, printed out my registry, bought something I already have, and then had it scanned at the checkout.
I asked Target how this happened and they said "People can get you whatever they want.We don't tell them if it's been purchased or not." Which is stupid. I think it should just come off the dang registry once it's been purchased! Oh well.
Re: A registry purchase
You spoke to an idiot at Target, LOL. The in-store printout says "requested" and "has" (or purchased, I forget). Several things can happen that result in duplicates, though - most common is that either one person shopped online while the other shopped in store (they don't update at the same rate), or one (or both) people printed your registry from home, before it had been purchased, and both thought you still needed it. The cashiers don't actually see the updated registry info, so when they scanned it off the registry, they'd have no way of knowing that someone else had already purchased it.
Things like this happen, it's no big deal. Thats part of why stores make it pretty easy to return things that were on your registry, they know you'll get some duplicates. It's impossible to prevent it completely.
So basically they told you that they don't do their job of updating registries when items are purchased. Good one Target.
I guess you are unfamiliar with Target's return policy! You have to have a gift receipt or there are a "limited number of registry returns" that you can make. Target sucks.
It's the purchaser's fault not Target. It updates automatically but sometimes people like to give unsolicited advice, like, you said you only need one, but I think you need two so here's another.
I am glad they don't totally remove items once purchased, because once again, people would just buy things thinking that you haven't thought of them, but really you did, they were just removed because someone got it off your registry.
Yea, but it is Target's fault that they have such a craptastic return policy. That is more my issue than anything else.
Hopefully this is something that you can return to a babies r us or walmart or something for store credit towards something else you may need. I have been finding out more and more negative things about Target as i go I used to love them, but I am beginning to dislike them and their "customer service"
Good luck hope it works out for you.
