Re: ~*~*~NICU check-in~*~*~
We moved yesterday! we're now at a hospital 20 min. away instead of 2 hours.
QOTW: about a week before he was born i had a placental abrubtion but it didn't really sink in. i don't think it has sunk in even now.
John stopped his aldactacide (sp?) and lasix, NaCl, KCl, and both his reflux meds. He's just broke 4lbs yesterday! Now it's learning how to eat.
Jack has had a pretty good week. He was diagnosed with hydronephrosis and cholestatic jaundice last Thursday. He was started on meds and has seen a nephrologist so we're hoping to get it figured out soon. His bili levels have came down since being on the medications, so we are hopeful!
Ups-- 1)Getting to try breastfeeding for the first time. Sometimes he's into it, sometimes he's not, but it is nice to try! 2) Jack is still breathing completely on his own!
Downs-- 1) Being diagnosed with hydronephrosis and cholestatic jaundice 2) My due date was Monday and we still don't know when we'll be going home.
QOTW: When I woke up in the hospital having contractions. They checked me and I was 8 cm dilated. I had a partial abruption and we were hoping and praying that I would be able to stay on hospital bedrest until full term.
Avery is doing good and even though she is off the IV altogether she still gained a teeny tiny bit!
ups-
1) Avery came off the IV and had her PICC line removed
2) she is tolerating her holds better and i was able to hold her for over an hour the night before last
downs-
1) i am sick and didn't get to visit yesterday and i wont today either
2) i'm not sure i will be able to keep my supply up when she catches up to what i am producing
QOTW: i knew we would have a NICU stay when i was at the hospital contracting at 27w1d. Even though they got them stopped for a couple days, when they picked back up i knew for sure there was NO WAY i was going to make it anywhere near term and Avery would be making her debut tiny but fighting!
Thing 2 = May 2009, Stillborn 33weeks 4lbs 9oz 18in
Thing 3 = October 2010, 27weeks 4days 2lbs 4oz 14.25in
First of all thanks SO MUCH for the prayers for Reid. We really appreciate them.
We knew right away he'd be in the nicu b/c he was 24 weeks.
Ups: his skin is looking dramatically better and he is 1/2 an ounce away from 2 pounds (he was 2 pounds but lost a half and ounce last night).
Downs: Having trouble keeping sats up and lots of secretions this morning had to hand bag him a couple times. Docs not sure if its b/c they've haven't been able to tape the tube b/c of skin (they just taped it we're hoping thats it) and its causing mucous from the play in the tube or if its the infection.
Still praying for everyone and hope you have a fantastic week!
Hi everyone!! Hope you all had a great week!!
Ups:
1. Emma was extubated yesterday!!!
2. I got to kangaroo her again yesterday for the first time in over a week
Downs:
1. She had to be re-intubated this morning after 18 hours of the SiPAP after a lot of A's and B's during the night. We were expecting this though, so we're not really overly discouraged about it.
2. She lost a little weight yesterday (down to 580 grams from 600 grams) from doing all the extra work for being off the vent
We knew right away we'd be in the NICU since I was hospitalized for 2 weeks before she arrived with cervical incompetence and a rescue cerclage.
Hope everyone has a great week!!
